Ala Kuola provides a safe and non-threatening environment for families and individuals to obtain information and support services relating to domestic violence, specifically with regards to completing and filing a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO).

When you come to Ala Kuola for a TRO, we will provide you with the petition to fill out and will offer technical assistance in completing the paperwork. Intake services are always conducted one-on-one to ensure your confidentiality. After the petition is completed, it will be reviewed to ensure that all relevant information is included.
What can I expect?
Next, the documents will be submitted to the Family Court for a Judge’s review and approval. If approved, our staff will review the petition and court procedures with you. We will provide you with copies of the TRO for your own safekeeping and will also provide copies for the appropriate law enforcement agency. It is your responsibility to pick-up the documents from Ala Kuola's office and drop it off at the appropriate police station in order to have the Respondent properly served.
If the petition is to be served outside of Oahu, we will assist with providing information for the appropriate law enforcement agency where the documents need to be sent to have the respondent served with the TRO.
